Stratford Soccer Club 2025 Identification Session Information
Thank you to those who have already registered for our upcoming summer season. If you have not registered yet, then please do so by clicking here. Some age categories are nearing capacity and we cannot guarantee we will be able to open more spots for those who end up on a waiting list.
For players in the U9 to U18 age groups, you MUST be registered by April 25, 2025. If you end up on a waiting list, you cannot attend the identification sessions until we know if we can take more players in your age group for the season.
Please read this carefully as it outlines and explains our updated identification process.
We realize not all players want to try out or play at the highest playing level. Therefore, we have changed our identification process to permit players to determine which level they would like to try out for. This will allow our coaching staff to evaluate players based on where the level they want to play. This means players who do not want to play or try out for Premier teams do not have to attend the Premier phase of the identification sessions.
The table below identifies each category by a colour, the different shades of that colour identify the different phases for that age group. Player should start attending at the first session of the highest playing level they want to play at.
For U11 and U13 age groups, this also applies to Division 1. If your player has no interest in playing Division 1 then your first session will be outdoors at the Division 2 Balancing sessions which will be scheduled for the week of May 19th. Information about this schedule will be sent out at a later date. There are some players who may be offered the opportunity to attend ID sessions for older age groups. These players will be contacted ahead of time by the clubs Technical Director. This opportunity will be based on players’ performance in previous seasons. These players are not mandated to take up this offer and can stay within their own age group should they prefer it.
Players who would like to be evaluated to play in an older age group and who have not been contacted prior to the start of the identification sessions, should attend their age group identification sessions. At the player’s first age group identification session, you should notify one of the identification session coaches that your player is requesting an evaluation to play in an older age group. Decisions to place a player on an older age group team will be based on their identification session evaluations and will be made by our Technical Club Coaching Staff.
A one-time fee of $20 per player is required to attend identification sessions. This is to be paid in cash at the first session your player attends.
Each age group identification sessions are broken down into phases, identified in the Selection Stage column of the schedule.
Understanding Divisions:
U11 - Premier (highest level), Division 1 (middle tier), Division 2 (lowest tier).
U13 - Premier (highest level), Division 1 (middle tier), Division 2 (lowest tier)
U15 - Premier (higher tier), U15 Division 1 (lower tier)
U18 - Premier (higher tier), U15 Division 1 (lower tier)
**For U15 and U18 players who do not make the Premier team will be placed on the Division 1 team. There will be no additional tryouts after that, teams will simply begin practices.
At these age groups, we may have to be combine with Sherwood to make a District level team called Hillsborough United. This decision will be made between the clubs and will be based on registration numbers and playing levels of the registered players.
To ensure we have accurate information to make this decision, please register your player as early as possible.
On the identification session schedule, in the Selection Stage column, key action points have been identified. 1st Selections will occur after our club coaching staff have identified players to continue in the selection process of that playing level. Players who are not chosen to continue will re-join the identification sessions when the next phase of identification sessions start. Players will be notified by email if they are NOT chosen to continue in this phase.
For example, a player attending the Premier level try-outs for their age group does not make the 1st selection phase, they would be notified via email, and they would not attend any more sessions until the First division identification session phase starts.
Final Selection means it is the final ID session for that division and after this session the final roster will be chosen. Players will be notified by email identifying if they have made the final roster or if they should continue into the next phase of identification sessions.
**It is very important to understand there may be some exceptions where we are required to extend a division's identification sessions. If this were to occur, an email would be sent out identifying the additional identification sessions date, time and location.
Indoor Complex refers to the Norton Diamond Soccer Complex in Stratford at 21 Myrtle Street.
